Q: Do I have to take the skills test if I am not applying for a clerical position?
Our clients require certain basis of comparison, which includes a standardized skills test. If you feel these tests do not apply to any position you are seeking you may simply select the "Skip Tests" button.

Q: What if my previous position or background is not listed on the application?
The "Select Positions Held" portion of the application is a general guideline for our most frequent positions and is not used to filter applicants. If you have positions held that are not listed, your resume and previous work history will be sufficient. Additionally our staffing manager will be able to review your previous positions during your interview.

Q: Why do I need to list 2 years of previous experience if I am attaching a resume?
Our staffing managers require a certain standardized basis of comparison, including information that may not be represented in your resume (i.e. salary history).

Q: What if I am interested in more than one job category?
Please indicate the position/category that you are most interested in. Our staffing manager will discuss your other employment interests during your interview.

Q: What are the most commonly filled positions?
SoCal Staffing works in a broad variety of employment categories: general office (ranging from executive administrative to data entry), accounting, electronic technicians & assembly, light industrial and various PC-based applications specialists.

Q: What type of positions do you have available right now?
Due to the nature of the staffing business, the type of positions available varies from moment to moment. We are constantly receiving and filling a variety of new positions.

Q: Is there a fee?
There is no charge to you for our services. In addition to placement services we will assist you with resume evaluation, interview techniques and new hire support all at no cost to you.

Q: I have never been to a staffing service. How do you work?
We act as a liaison between you and a wide variety of clients throughout the region. When our clients contact us with an open position, we search our database of existing employees or candidates first. If we identify a position that matches your skills and requirements (i.e. salary, location, opportunity, etc.) we contact you to discuss the opportunity. If you are interested, an interview is arranged and we continue to support you throughout the hiring process. Additionally, we will stay in touch with you after you have been hired to ensure a smooth transition.

Q: Can I just drop in or do I have to make an appointment?
We would like you to make appointments so we can prepare for your arrival. However you are welcome to come in at anytime, our hours are Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. We stay open until 7pm each Tuesday.

Q: How can I make an appointment?
First, complete the "Online Application" upon completion one of our staff members will contact you for an interview. One of the best features of our "Online Application" is that it will dramatically reduce or eliminate the time spent in our office.

Q: Do you have another office?
Between the Web and our Murphy Canyon office we can service all of your employment needs no matter where you live in San Diego! By completing the "Online Application", you may even be able to register with us all from the comfort of your home.

Q: Where do you staff (geographic locations)?
The majority of the positions we staff for are located in areas such as Downtown, Mission Valley, Sorrento Valley, Golden Triangle, La Jolla, Del Mar, Scripps Ranch, Poway and Rancho Bernardo. Since we are always growing, we continue to add new clients in new areas!

Q: Do you staff part time or just full time? Do you staff just temporary or permanent as well?
We staff all types of positions including part time, full time, temporary, temp-to-hire, as well as direct hire positions!

Q: I am only looking for part time evening/weekend shifts. Can you help me?
The majority of our positions are during normal business hours. We occasionally have positions open on the weekends or evenings. One of our staffing managers will be happy to discuss our current openings with you.

Q: I need a job ASAP! Would you be able to help me?
In order to answer this question, we need to review your "Online Application" and resume to ensure we have positions that suit your needs. Q: What types of companies do you staff for?
We staff for a broad range of companies, including Biotech, High-Tech, Service, Manufacturing, Construction, Financial, and Engineering, etc.

Q: Will I have to take computer testing?
Depending on the types of positions you are interested in, we may need to review your computer and software applications skills. You and your staffing manager will determine the type of computer tests necessary.

Q: What are your hours?
We are open Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, and open late on Tuesday until 7pm.

Q: I am responding to an ad I saw in the paper/internet. I would like to find out more information, such as salary, hours/shifts, location, full time vs. part time, etc.

Q: What is the minimum that positions pay?
The pay range is determined by multiple factors: the position, your experience and skill level, as well as the salary you desire! All "pay" issues will be thoroughly discussed prior referring you to any company.

Q: How long does the application process take?
By utilizing SoCal Staffing's "Online Application" process the time necessary is flexible and kept to a minimum. With the "Online Application" you may login and out and complete the process when it is convenient for you. You are not restricted to normal business hours or the hassle of coming into the office. The "Online Application" will take approximately 1 hour.

Q: What pieces of ID do I need? What do I need for the interview
When you come in to interview, please bring a clean copy of your resume, two complete addresses and phones numbers of professional references, and two forms of ID.
The two forms of ID must be original documents, for example, a U.S. Passport, or a U.S. Driver's License AND a U.S. Social Security Card.

Q: Regarding employment verification, does it have to be my current employer?
The employment verification could be from any two previous and/or current employers.

Q: I am seeking home-based employment can you help me?
We rarely have assignments for home-based employment.

Q: Do you have a minimum age for employment?
Yes, it is necessary that you be at least 18 years of age before we can assist you.
